St. John's Pro-Democracy Book Group will meet on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:00 pm in the St John's lounge (link: bit.ly/STJNFaith). We will be discussing some of Hannah Arendt's work.
In 1961, The New Yorker sent Arendt to Jerusalem to cover the trial of Adolf Eichmann. The articles she wrote for the magazine were later expanded and published as Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil. Arendt asserted that the evil of the Holocaust came from everyday thoughtlessness and the failure of ordinary people to take responsibility for their own actions.
